Jan Langbein Receives Prestigious Community Leadership Award
Jan Langbein, an initiate of the Iota Alpha chapter at Southern Methodist University, is recognized with the 2007 Mary Harriman Community Leadership Award! Jan is the Executive Director of Genesis Women's Shelter in Dallas, Texas and is known nationally as an authority on the topic of domestic violence.. She speaks on the subject and has been interviewed by national media including the Today Show. Jan's impressive community contributions and her dedication to the issue of abuse against women and families in the Dallas community have earned her The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc.'s highest honor: the Mary Harriman Community Leadership Award. She received the award April 19 during the Annual AJLI Conference at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.
Jan has consistently given to Chi Omega as a professional resource, a chapter advisor, and an active member of the Dallas Alumnae chapter. Jan was a contributing author to the Chi Omega Fraternity publication, The Jr. Experience - Relationship Realities. In 2000 and 2002, Jan was invited to the Chi Omega Conventions to present workshops about dating violence and self-esteem. We are proud of our Chi Omega Sister making a difference in so many lives.
