December 2007 S.H. Letter
Dear Sisters,
Greetings! Many of us are experiencing the joys of the holiday season, giving way to gatherings with friends and family. It is a wonderful time to recount special memories from the past and share hopes for the future.
One of my favorite memories as S.H. is presiding over the installation of new Chi Omega chapters. To me, chapter installation signals the hope for our future as we perpetuate the sisterhood and broaden our circle to include others worthy to wear the badge of Chi Omega.
Recently, we welcomed a new Chi Omega chapter to our ranks-Pi Mu Chapter at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. Our Pi Mu Sisters listened attentively to every word that was shared with them. You could see the gleam in their eyes as they heard for the very first time the symbolism associated with our badge, our colors, and our flower. In the most sincere way, they visibly embraced the teachings of Chi Omega as each new Sister added her name to the chapter roll book.
Sisters, our ritual has stood the test of time. While performing the installation ceremony at Florida Gulf Coast University, I thought about how we bridge the past with the future when we share our secrets and welcome new sisters into our mystic ranks. Our founders speak to us each time we perform the beautiful ceremony. Their words encourage, inspire, and challenge us to make a difference throughout our lives as Chi Omegas.
As we look to 2008, I encourage you to reflect on the past year and all the rights and privileges we enjoy as Chi Omegas, remembering that we openly declare in our solemn oath that we will be grateful to Chi Omega for its friendships and inspiration, all the days of our lives.
The Governing Council joins me in wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season. We hope that the coming months bring you the spirit of our Symphony and the warmth of Sisterhood. May you flourish in the New Year.
Loyally,
Jean Mrasek, S.H.
