A Thanksgiving Message from the Governing Council

During the Thanksgiving season, especially during this year's hard economic times, I am more grateful than ever for the blessings of family, friends, home, and food. There are so many who are struggling. My eldest son has collected hundreds of canned food items as part of his high school's donation to the local food depository. Another son has a full bag of soccer uniforms ready to outfit an orphanage's team. And the youngest in our family gave up pounds of Halloween candy for hungry children.

In our family, we stress the importance of both supporting others in need, and in giving thanks for what we have. The same is true within our Chi Omega family.

A few ideas for you to support Sisters in need, and to express gratitude to Sisters who enrich your life:

  • Donate to the Foundation. Annual Fund gifts help to support programs such as our Sisterhood Fund, aiding Sisters in crisis; alcohol education for collegians; and life-changing scholarships and leadership training for collegians and alumnae.
  • Contribute your time to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, or another deserving charity in your community.
  • Send a hand-written note of thanks or a gift from Chi O Creations to a Sister who has helped you.
  • Share an item from your gratitude list on our official Facebook page.

My gratitude list includes our Sisterhood. I give thanks for the many who contribute to the strength of Chi Omega, and for those who put Chi Omega values into action to make a difference in their families and communities.

Blessings to you all during this Thanksgiving season,

Andrea Bechtel
