Summer 2009 Governing Council Letter

Dear Sisters,

Summertime is here! With the warm weather, I am reminded of my summers as a collegian. They began with excitement to be home and a sense of relief that another year of school was complete. But it was never more than a few weeks before I longed to be back with my Chi Omega Sisters. We shared a special bond that allowed us to pick up in August where we had left off in May. It is hard to believe in this day and age that our friendships stayed strong without e-mail, cell phones, and Facebook. But believe me, they did! I was always excited to return to school, rekindle friendships, and prepare for recruitment.

Collegians, recruitment is an exciting time in your chapter! Many friendships are strengthened during the late night talks, practices, and discussions. It is an honor and a privilege to choose your new members. Your new members will become Sisters to those in your chapter and also to over 290,000 other Chi Omegas. Choose thoughtfully.

Alumnae, recruitment season brings with it a call to action for you. If there is an outstanding young woman in your area, please recommend her for membership. Your feedback is vital to the strength of our organization. Click here for the alumnae resource page with information on how to recommend outstanding young women for membership.

As Chi Omegas, we have an obligation to continue the strength of Chi Omega by recruiting the best and brightest young women to join our Sisterhood. We need your help!

I wish you and your family a safe and happy summer.

Loyally in Chi Omega,

Andrea Bechtel, S.K.A.
