Risk management workshops changing lives!
Risk Management Workshops, customized for Chi Omega, illuminate and instruct personal decision-making regarding risk and alcohol consumption. The program uses the Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP), which is a skills-training approach with motivational interviewing techniques and a focus on drinking in a less dangerous and less risky way for those who make the choice to drink. The content is scientifically proven to produce behavior change in college-aged participants.
Two of the trained facilitators travel to a chapter to lead a three-hour, face-to-face risk management workshop to the entire chapter membership. The facilitators use a variety of tools (PowerPoint presentation, video/audio clips, hands-on demonstrations and open conversations) to engage and educate the chapter members.
What participants in Chi Omega Risk Management Workshops have said:“The information was actually useful and valuable to college women and pertained to our lives. I appreciate that it was presented in a manner that was non-judgmental and very conversational instead of lecturing."
“As personnel advisor, I often have to meet with women who have made poor choices due to alcohol consumption. The workshop was a fun but informative way to educate our active and new member sisters about the risks of consuming alcohol and about thinking ‘big picture’ when it comes to making decisions. Thank you for seeing the importance of the message and for wanting to share this experience! Chi Omega is truly a life-long experience, and I'm certain the information learned in the workshop will stay with our women for years to come.”
