Sisters Meet On Mission Trip to San Francisco

Texas residents Dawnette Magner Lantz and Meagan McHenry attended a church-sponsored mission trip to San Francisco last July, but did not know one another until their second day in the City by the Bay.

They met and began a conversation while on a break. After discovering they are both Baylor U graduates, Dawnette asked Meagan if she was in a sorority. Meagan responded, “I’m a Chi Omega.” Dawnette’s vocal pitch increased a few notches as she responded, “Me, too!” Once the women realized they are Theta Kappa Chapter Sisters, they had a hug session right on the spot.

Later that day, Meagan learned that another Baylor graduate, also on the trip, planned to run the Golden Gate Bridge that afternoon. Meagan had always dreamed of running the bridge but didn’t have on the appropriate shoes. She began asking around: “Is anyone was wearing a size 6 tennis shoe?” Dawnette was the only one who could help. Instantly, these two Sisters traded shoes and Meagan, who was part of the Baylor Spirit Squads before her 2011 graduation, was able to run the Golden Gate Bridge.

Dawnette and Meagan spent a week in San Francisco landscaping, feeding the homeless, working with a women’s ministry, and making a Chi O connection.
