Toasts and Singing

A Hot Springs Reunion for Delta Deltas
Sixteen Delta Delta/U of California–Santa Barbara alumnae,
initiated between 1967–1971, met in Avila Beach,
California, September 30–October 2, 2011 for a weekend of
fun and sharing. We stayed at the Sycamore Mineral Hot
Springs, where each room has its own natural hot springs.
Our group of Sisters meets annually in different cities and
we trade organizational responsibilities. Helen Melman and
Dale Muegenburg managed this year’s reunion.
For the hardy among us, there was a docent-led 4.5 mile
strenuous hike from the bay to the Avila lighthouse. The
six who participated enjoyed magnificent coastal views and
learned a lot about the area. Others walked to downtown
Avila to shop and dine, while some availed themselves of the
“girlfriend” package at the spa.
“It was the most relaxing weekend we’ve ever planned,” said
Sue Irwin. “And, as always, a good time was had by all.”
