A Wish Come True, Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and Omicron Theta Collegians

“Would you like to have a send-off party for 9-year-old Bethany, whose wish is to go to the Walt Disney World® Resort?”

The women of Omicron Theta/Midwestern State U eagerly agreed when this wish opportunity was presented to them by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas.

And what a party it was! Invited to attend with Bethany were 180 family members, friends, and members of her church.

Before being driven to her party in a limousine, the Chi Omegas gave Bethany a fun makeover, including in a new outfit and matching head band, makeup, and a manicure and pedicure with “Fairy Dust Pink Polish.”

At the party, the crowd enjoyed face painting, making friendship bracelets, munching on popcorn, and watching clowns twist colorful balloons into surprising and fun shapes.

During the celebration, a collegiate Chi Omega dressed as a fairytale princess to make the moment even more magical for Bethany and her family. Bethany also received a butterfly bracelet, plus crafts, games, and candy to enjoy during the flight to Orlando.

Representatives of every Greek organization on campus participated, making the event a wonderful collaboration of MSU’s entire fraternity-sorority community. Most notably, the men of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity brought a snow cone machine that made cool treats Bethany especially appreciated; Omega Delta Phi Fraternity members performed their award-winning step act; and the Sigma Alpha Epsilons provided the disc jockey, who played Disney music exclusively. The university participated, too, providing the site—the courtyard at the local art museum— plus tables, chairs, cake, and lemonade; and the MSU cheer squad and Mustang mascot performed.

Omicron Theta, a chapter of 45 collegians, donated $5,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation last year from funds raised during their annual Make-A-Wish® Week in March. This brings the chapter’s total donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to more than $96,000 in 10 years.
