How I Kicked Off My Stilettos and Broke In My Stovetop to Create Healthier Habits

I was thrilled to land a job in public relations in New York City after graduation. But five years later, I was a stressed-out corporate professional. Too busy to cook, I relied on microwaves, takeout, restaurants, and street carts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Realizing I’d become a junk food and sugar addict, I broke in my little-used kitchen and began to reclaim my health. I discovered whole foods and the way they made me look and feel mentally and physically fulfilled as never before. I was eating more meals at home, bringing lunch to work, and feeling more energetic than ever.

Inspired by what I’d accomplished and equally unfulfilled in my corporate job, I knew it was time to take another leap. In 2009, I became a certified holistic health coach and started my own business so that I could inspire and motivate others to make healthy changes—whether it’s cooking at home, making better food choices, or letting go of sugar cravings—as a first step toward a healthier lifestyle.
