Governing Council Names New Executive Director

Name: Leslie Richbourg Herington

Role: Executive Director for Chi Omega Fraternity

Originally from: Memphis, Tennessee

Relocating from: Raleigh, North Carolina

Initiating chapter: Pi/U of Tennessee–Knoxville

Professional background: After graduating from the U of Tennessee–Knoxville, Leslie obtained her CPA certification and spent her early career practicing in public accounting as a corporate auditor with several major companies, including Ernst & Young. In 2003, she was hired as the director of business operations at the Chi Omega Executive Headquarters and worked in that role until 2005, when her husband’s job relocated her family to Raleigh, North Carolina.

Chi Omega involvement: Leslie’s involvement with Chi Omega has been constant since she graduated from the U of Tennessee. Aside from working at the Chi Omega Executive Headquarters, she has also been a national volunteer, serving as chair of the Financial Resources Development Committee and chair of the Chi Omega Foundation Sisterhood Fund Disaster Relief Program. She has been a member of the Chi Omega Convention staff since 2006 and has also served as a chapter advisor for Epsilon Beta/U of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. She is also a member of the Chi Omega Foundation’s 1895 Society.

What does the executive director do? The executive director (ED) is responsible for the overall, day-to-day management of all of the operations of the Fraternity at the Executive Headquarters. She is responsible for leading, directing, motivating, and communicating with all of the Fraternity staff. The ED also acts as the primary liaison between the Fraternity staff and the Governing Council, often talking to members of the Governing Council on a daily basis.

What is Leslie looking forward to most as executive director? “What I’m really looking forward to is where Chi Omega is headed. I think everyone here at the Executive Headquarters is inspired every day by our own members, young and old. So, what I’m most looking forward to is picking up the phone and hearing about what our members really need, in terms of resources or support, and their ideas about what can enhance both the Chi Omega alumnae and collegiate experiences.”
