Chi Omegas Flourish

The Frittata Affair: Adventures in Four-Star Dining at Home

Not your traditional cookbook, author Judy Cook Pochini helps readers achieve elegance in dining at home without hours of kitchen toil by providing an inside look into the methods used by an Italian-American family of master chefs with a rich history in the food business.

In more than 20 memoir-style anecdotes, the author discloses the secrets of the Pochini family’s signature Northern Italian-Genovese cuisine that fuses old-country Italian dishes with the cutting-edge ingredients available in San Francisco and purveyed for 37 years at the popular Pochini’s Restaurant on Front Street in the City by the Bay. Capturing the special taste of dining and entertaining in the city’s gourmet-rich culture, the author gives readers the flavor of San Francisco from times past to times present.

Along with Judy’s stories, there are 200 recipes with gourmet appeal. The detailed instructions are suitable for beginning and advanced home cooks alike. Only a few recipes call for intricate procedures; most are simple. Also included are 18 suggested menus, a kitchen equipment checklist, and tips on where to find ingredients.

Judy is a former editor of trade publications for Sunset Magazine. She is an initiate of Delta Delta Chapter at the U of California–Santa Barbara, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in business; she subsequently earned a master’s in journalism from the U of California–Berkeley.
