31 Dates in 31 Days

An autobiographic tale, this is the story of first-time author Tamara Duricka Johnson’s journey toward changing her outlook on life, love, and modern dating. After one too many breakups, the 31-year old decided that dating in the Big Apple was too difficult and she considered giving up on relationships altogether. Instead, Tamara devised a plan to go back to the basics: first dates.

“I was living in New York City and writing for Good Morning America,” she says, “when I challenged myself to spend my nights ‘moonlighting’ as a chronic dater. I set my rules: The first 30 dates would be all first dates; date number 31 would be a second date with one of the first 30 guys and would be on Valentine’s Day.”

Guided by a few simple rules (never go to the same place twice, don’t spend more than $31), Tamara’s dating project unexpectedly turns out to be a series of authentic and unpredictable experiences. With each of her dates, whether it’s the shy dance teacher, the sweet surfer, or the 21-year old Coast Guardsman, Tamara learns to open up and have more fun.

“I wanted my month-long social experiment to help me figure out what I was doing ‘wrong’ when it came to dating. . . . Not only did I learn way more about love, men, and dating than I expected, I also met a few guys I really liked, including one in particular, who is now my husband!”

Chatty, fun, and confessional, 31 Dates in 31 Days is an open and honest road map to reinventing your dating life. In baring her romantic life to the world, Tamara takes readers on a funny, sometimes painful, but always entertaining adventure to find love, happiness, and satisfaction.

Tamara is an initiate of Pi Epsilon Chapter at Roanoke College. You are invited to go online to read her blog at http://31datesin31days.com.
